Inspired by the spectacular nature of their homeland and influenced by a meld of genres, Genevieve & Milo make music that is moving and introspective, resonating with deep honesty and inquiry into the human experience.
They met in 2021 and quickly found a strong musical bond. Their very different backgrounds — Genevieve’s love of classical music and opera, Milo’s journey with drums and West African percussion — sparked a creativity and exploration that defines everything they make.
The duo released their first EP Carrying Water in 2024. The record pays homage to the natural world that nurtured them. Sorrowful yet uplifting, each song draws on a silent reverence for the world around them. Their previous releases found features on BBC radio 6, Australia’s ABC radio, Canada’s folk music Ontario Radio and Radio y Televisión Spain, amongst others.
Their upcoming album Moonflower is a mesmerising collection of ten songs that carries deeply introrospective lyricism on the wings of of layered percussion, instrumentation and experimental production. The album is expansive and represents a new sonic direction for the duo.
Despite its expansive nature, the record is at its heart a very personal journey. “Moonflower as an album represents a shift in my own songwriting journey — a desire to tell the more intimate stories of my life,” says Genevieve. “It is about grief, longing, the ecstasy of love, the beauty and pain of becoming. It is an acceptance of all the best and worst parts of ourselves.”
The album is set to release in October 2026 through their label, Nixi Music.

Genevieve grew up studying music and went on to major in classical voice and musicology at university. She also carries a deep passion for folk music from around the world and draws on this myriad of inspiration for her songwriting. She is a lover of crafting, nature walks and her work as a voice coach.
Milo is a drummer and multi-instrumentalist specialised in African percussion. He grew up in a creative household where there was always music playing. He has been drumming since before memory. Navigating his own self tough journey, blended with influences of cultures throughout his travels and the sounds of nature, the rhythms and soundscapes he creates are inspired by these sounds and places.
